What is it about backstories? It seems we can’t just quietly exist on this planet, we have to tell everyone our intimate details of our history in the hope they’ll feel they’ll know us better or empathise with – or not vote us off the show.
So because the bosses say we need one, here goes…
Once upon a time, many years ago on a farm in the Marlborough district, there was a little rocky outcrop called Rocky Knob. Looking up at it in awe one day, little Stewie thought to himself, “when I’m grown up, Rocky Knob would be a fricken awesome name for a brewery”. Many years later, when he was almost grown up, the man-child, now calling himself Stu, did start a brewery and he did call it Rocky Knob.
Having moved about a fair bit over the years, from up North, to the Bay of Plenty, it’s nice to have finally settled down and found a permanent home the spiritual epicentre of all things ale in Brewtown, Upper Hutt.
We can probably come up with a better story, and if we do, we’ll stick it here, but right now, we’re too busy brewing to write any more copy that no one really reads anyway. You don’t need to read pages of rubbish about how passionate we are about brewing quality blah blah blah. Aren’t you all a bit sick of that by now?
